ACOTADrawings for SolidWorks

Solindac software · for SolidWorks

Manufacturing drawings, made in SolidWorks while you keep designing.

ACOTA reads the geometry of your parts and assemblies, decides what needs dimensioning the way an experienced draughtsman would, and draws it in your SolidWorks, on your template and title block. All you do is check it.

The problem

Ten minutes per drawing, and no design work in the meantime.

A shaft with its bearing seats, a hub with a keyway, a laser-cut plate with twelve holes, or a weldment with its parts list. These drawings come round every week and they have to be dimensioned properly. The time they take comes straight out of design.

How it works

Three steps. ACOTA handles the last one on its own.

01

Open the assembly.

With your assembly open in SolidWorks, create a project in ACOTA and pick the parts, or all of them. ACOTA reads the geometry of each one: faces, edges, holes, sheet metal and components.

ACOTA · Project

02

Review the proposal.

For each part you see the views, the scale and the proposed dimensions, each with its reason. You accept, remove or change tolerances, and ACOTA remembers your corrections for next time.

ACOTA · Plan for MEC-000118

03

Send it to SolidWorks and get on with your work.

ACOTA draws the batch in its own SolidWorks, saves the .SLDDRW files next to the models, exports to PDF, DWG or DXF if you want, and leaves you a report of the dimensions created and checked.

ACOTA in 30 seconds

From the open assembly to a batch of drawings.

  • Views, dimensions and notes on real edges; every dimension is checked against the geometry.
  • From shafts to welded frames: machined parts, sheet metal, frames, welding, assembly and maintenance.
  • You keep designing while ACOTA draws in the background.

Keep designing

Two SolidWorks sessions: one for you, one for ACOTA.

ACOTA starts its own SolidWorks minimised, opens your assembly in it and draws there. You keep modelling in yours, and it never steals your window or your focus. After each drawing it frees up memory, and if its SolidWorks grows too large, it restarts it between drawings.

  • It never grabs your window. Its SolidWorks runs minimised; your keyboard and mouse stay yours.
  • A whole batch, unattended. Start the drawings for the assembly and come back to the report whenever suits you.
  • Memory kept in check. Frees memory after every drawing and restarts its session when needed.

Shop-floor judgement

Dimensions meant for manufacturing, not for filling the sheet.

Shop-floor judgement, not random dimensions.

Rules for each part family, using your company’s fits and tolerances table: H7/h6 on seats, N9 on keyways, ±0.5 on weld positions.

Native SolidWorks drawings.

Views, dimensions, hole callouts, datums, geometric tolerances, flat patterns and parts lists are real SolidWorks objects on your template.

Validated before drawing.

Every dimension is checked against the geometry before it is sent, and the value SolidWorks creates is verified afterwards. Anything that does not match is flagged.

Everything stays on your computer.

ACOTA installs on the PC with SolidWorks and works locally. AI is optional, and for projects under a non-disclosure agreement it is switched off with one click.

What’s included

What ACOTA does today (version 0.6.5).

Rules by part family

  • Machined shafts: chain of lengths, diameters with fits (h6 on seats), bearing seats detected from contact with bought-out parts, DIN 6885-1 keyways dimensioned to centre, tapped holes at the ends with their own view, chamfers and A-B datums.
  • Discs, flanges and hubs: outer and inner diameters, pitch circle and internal keyway.
  • Laser-cut sheet: outline, holes and slots, radii and thickness.
  • Bent sheet metal: the same, plus bend height and flat pattern.
  • Sections and tubes.
  • Weldments: overall dimensions, functional positions with tolerance, balloons, parts list, welding notes and ISO 2553 symbols.
  • Structural frames: assembly sheet, cut list with lengths, angles and mitres, one detail per member and detail views of the joints.
  • Multibody parts: assembly sheet with a mark table and one sheet per mark.

Assembly and maintenance

  • Assembly drawings: exploded view with balloons, parts list and tightening torques.
  • Maintenance drawings: exploded view, table of spare and wear parts with indicative intervals, lubrication points, tightening torques and safety notes.

SolidWorks integration

  • Direct bridge to SolidWorks, no macros to install.
  • Your company templates and title block. Model properties (description, material, mass) go into the title block.
  • Its own SolidWorks in the background: manages memory and restarts that instance if it grows too large.
  • Existing drawings: detects whether each drawing is up to date or the part has changed, and updates it after taking a backup.
  • Export to PDF, DWG and DXF, for one part or the whole project.
  • Any part numbering: family prefixes (MEC-000123…) or any file name. Toolbox and bought-out parts are left out automatically.

Your way of dimensioning

  • Editable fits and tolerances table: ISO 2768, ISO 13920 and fits by the function of each dimension.
  • Correction memory: whatever you change during review is applied to the next parts of the same family.
  • Review before drawing: drawing preview and list of dimensions with their reasons (“bearing seat”, “keyway position to centre”), with the option to accept, remove or change tolerances.

Optional AI and licensing

  • Modes: rules only; local AI (Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp); cloud AI with your own key (Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, Kimi…); or mixed, where the local model proposes and the cloud reviews.
  • During installation ACOTA detects your hardware and recommends a local model or cloud only.
  • Anonymisation: only a geometric description goes to the cloud, with part numbers and descriptions replaced by neutral identifiers. Never CAD files.
  • Confidential projects (NDA): tick one box and nothing leaves the computer.

Licence

  • One licence per computer, activated with a key.
  • Up to 3 computer transfers a year from the portal.

FAQ

What engineering offices usually ask.

Do my models leave my computer?

No. ACOTA installs on your PC and talks to your SolidWorks locally. The only external communication is the licence check and, only if you switch it on, the query to an AI model with anonymised geometry. Projects marked as confidential never send anything.

Which version of SolidWorks do I need?

2018 to 2026, 64-bit, on Windows 10 or 11, in any edition (Standard, Professional and Premium). No extra licence or add-ins are needed. If you have an earlier version, please ask us.

Can I keep working while ACOTA makes the drawings?

Yes. In “own SolidWorks in the background” mode, ACOTA opens another SolidWorks session, minimised, and draws there without touching yours. It needs enough memory for two sessions. If you prefer, it can also draw in the SolidWorks you have open.

What if I don’t like a dimension?

The drawing is an ordinary .SLDDRW: you change it in SolidWorks. During the review you can also remove or modify dimensions and tolerances, and ACOTA keeps those corrections by part family to apply them from then on.

Do I have to name my parts in a particular way?

No. ACOTA understands family-prefix numbering (MEC-000123…) as well as any file name; it only leaves out Toolbox and bought-out parts.

Do I need an AI or a graphics card?

No. ACOTA works on its rules alone. AI, local or in the cloud with your own key, is optional for fine-tuning the proposals.

How does the licence work?

Per computer: you activate the key on the PC with SolidWorks and it is tied to it. From the portal you can deactivate it and activate it on another computer up to three times a year. No permanent connection is needed.

What happens at the end of the year?

The licence does not renew or charge you automatically. You get a reminder before it expires; if you renew, you keep getting new versions, and if not, ACOTA stops producing drawings until you renew, without losing your projects or your fits table.

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes. Email us at info@solindac.com and we will send you an invoice; your key arrives by email once payment is confirmed.

Do you offer customisation?

Yes. Solindac is a machinery engineering office: we can load your fits table, your templates and your dimensioning criteria, and add part families specific to your product.
