The engineer behind SOLINDAC

I am an industrial engineer and I run engineering at SOLINDAC, the brand under which I design and coordinate packaging and process machinery, special-purpose machines and complete production line automation. I work from Villamartín, in the Sierra de Cádiz, for clients across Spain and Portugal.

Background

Before devoting myself full-time to SOLINDAC, I was technical director at a manufacturer of packaging, filling, conveying and automated storage machinery. That is where most of the judgement I apply today comes from: sizing the machine from the product and the format, treating mechanics and control as a single problem, and staying with the equipment until it is producing on the plant floor.

What I do

• Packaging machineryFilling, capping, labelling and conveying machines engineered around the client's product and line.
• Process machineryTanks, mixers and dosing systems, with the product as the starting point.
• Special-purpose machinesFull study and design when no catalogue machine solves the process.
• Line automationControl panels, PLC and HMI, retrofits of existing machines and integration of equipment from different makers.

I also work as an outsourced engineering office for machine builders who need extra mechanical, electrical or controls capacity on specific projects.

Tools I work with

Mechanical design in SolidWorks and Inventor, electrical schematics in EPLAN, and control and supervision in TIA Portal and WinCC Unified. Having all three disciplines on the same desk is what keeps the machine consistent from start to finish.

In-house tools

Industries

Mainly food processing: table olives, olive oil, wine and vinegar, sauces, preserves and snacks. Also cosmetics, homecare and chemicals.
