Plant unit converter
The units that get mixed every day in a packaging plant: air pressure in bar or psi depending on the pneumatics supplier, pump flow in L/min or m³/h, gearmotor torque in Nm or kgf·m, power in kW or metric horsepower and process temperature in °C or °F.
Unit converter
Pressure, flow rate, torque, power and temperature between common units.

Formulas
- 1 bar = 100 kPa = 14.504 psi = 10.197 m w.c. = 0.98692 atm
- 1 m³/h = 16.667 L/min = 1,000 L/h
- 1 kgf·m = 9.80665 Nm · 1 lbf·ft = 1.35582 Nm
- 1 CV (metric hp) = 0.7355 kW · 1 HP = 0.7457 kW
- °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 · K = °C + 273.15
Worked example
A 6 bar air network is 87.0 psi, which is what many valves and cylinders from US catalogues ask for. A 2 CV gearmotor is 1.47 kW; if the data sheet says 2 HP, that is 1.49 kW: a small difference, but worth knowing which unit the manufacturer uses.
Limits and how to use it
- CV (metric horsepower) and HP are not the same: 1 CV = 0.9863 HP.
- Metres of water column depend on fluid density; water at 4 °C is assumed here.
- Mass flow or compressed gases need the density; this converter works with volumetric flow.
